GADGETS: ENGINEERING IN ACTION

Overview

Explore Motion, Mechanics, and More

Ever wondered how things work? At Gadgets, you don’t just observe innovation—you get hands-on with it. From everyday tools to cutting-edge technology, this interactive exhibit invites you to take things apart, put them back together, and explore the mechanics behind the world around you.

Curiosity is your greatest tool: so grab a wrench, open your mind, and start tinkering!

Gadgets solve problems, do work, and make us laugh.
Try to lift your own weight in the pulley chair, and build a bridge. Put gravity, compression, tension, and torque to work as you build a model bridge to cross a canyon, then test your creation to see if it can stand the pressure. At the Pulley Chair, use simple machines to overcome gravity and lift yourself off the ground.

Key Features

  • Take apart real gadgets to see what makes them tick.
  • Experiment with gears, circuits, and simple machines to understand their role in design and function.
  • Solve engineering puzzles, build structures, and test out creative solutions.
  • Learn how common objects are engineered for efficiency, durability, and performance.
